Early Childhood Music
3-6 Year Olds
30 minute classes with 2 students
Each class starts with singing into microphones and rotating for a turn on a full drum kit. A different instrument is featured each week ranging from steel drum to French horn. Students try it hands on and learn about the instruments’ parts, family and how it works. A new song is learned each class to play on xylophone and piano. A variety of games and activities are used to teach different concepts including tempo, beat lengths, pitch, notation symbols and more. Each term also includes a “make an instrument day” where we explore a hand crafted instrument and each student makes their own to take home.
Primary Music Program
5-8 Years Old
30 minute classes with 2 students
Class Length: 30 minutes with 2 students per class
This program offers 15 minutes of individual instruction and 15 minutes of working through a music theory computer program or practicing on a keyboard with headphones. The individual instruction time can be spent learning on drums, guitar, ukulele or piano. Many students spend approximately 5 minutes of that time on drums learning how to play basic beats and read drum music and the remaining time on another instrument of their choice. A rental instrument for practicing at home can be included for the first 6 weeks for guitar, ukulele or keyboard.
Semi-Private Program
5-12 Years Old
30 Minute Class with 2 Students
This program offers 15 minutes of individual piano instruction and 15 minutes working through a music theory computer program or practicing on a keyboard with headphones. It is ideal for younger students not yet ready for a full 30 minute private lesson and can be a more economical choice for some.
